Random stuff

Teaching DD how to drive is a learning experience for me. I'd forgotten that you have to learn how to back up, by turning your steering wheel in the opposite direction of where you what to go. That, pulling into a parking space in a parking lot can be tricky, if you've never done it before.

I went shopping for a cast iron frying pan to cook eggs in. So far, it is not seasoned well enough to be truly non-stick. I went looking for an 8 inch pan, figuring I could experiment with it before buying a larger heavier cast iron pan. They are relatively low cost. I guess I should cook bacon in the new pan a few times to really grease it up.

I have ants in my kitchen, and don't know how to get rid of the rascals. DH has tried to find the source, as they usually trail up the side of the house, but he has put ant poison on the outside of the house. They are still coming, even though he has gotten rid of some of them. I'll bet they have a nest somewhere underneath our siding.

We only have 2 window air conditioners installed right now. We need the bigger one in the living room put in, but DH is not feeling well right now. He has a bit of work to do this weekend, and took Friday off, but he's not doing much besides mowing the grass.

I can't seem to get everything done lately. I guess I just have to face the fact that I can't do it all. Having to sleep with a mask on, and take insulin, plus the pills, plus trying to learn new ways to cook better food, have all taken some of my time.

I am switching from credit card to debit card, and it's made the budget a little tight. I will be glad when June comes around, and money should not be so tight.

I had a Nathan's hot dog at the Get Go, and it wasn't all that great. I guess I had so many good dogs off the grill last week, that it paled in comparison.

I really want to go to The Tree of Life spa out in Patagonia, Arizona, so I can get off insulin, but I don't have the money. I don't know how much it costs, but I would like to try it.

I have a nice life, but the physicality of being too fat is a problem I need to deal with right now.

We had ants in our house in Frederick. I never found were they came in from the outside. I did find out where they were coming into the kitchen. I placed several ant traps at the spot, the kind where they eat the food and also take the food back to the colony. This did the trick..they were gone within a week. When they came back a year later I did the same thing only sooner and it worked then too. They also do not like cinnamon and tend not to walk over it. I made Cygiee laugh with this one but they also die quickly when sprayed with window cleaner (the blue stuff). <--see reference to "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" movie.

Agree about the ant bait! Works for me too.

I love my cast iron skillets. They were my grandmother's so they are very well seasoned. And they turn out the best pineapple upside down cakes. You probably already know this, but don't cook anything tomato based in your cast iron because for some reason Everything sticks afterwards!

*hugs on all the rest!
